2017 Petition STOP PRESS

The MP for the High Peak, Ruth George, received our petition to the DfT for improved access at Chinley Station from the Chinley and Buxworth Transport Group at Chinley station on 13/10/2017. We were delighted with the turnout for the occasion!

Local disability campaigner Chris Hughes was able to be present – but could not access the platforms. It was great to be able to welcome Railfuture’s Vice President Paul Abell to the meeting; Paul and his wife Shirley had travelled specially from Treeton near Rotherham for the occasion on behalf of Railfuture. The Buxton Advertiser reported on the event (see video) and we were so pleased that so many local people came along to support including High Peak Borough Councillor, John Kappes and Roland Strube from Sustainable Hayfield.

(The petition to the DfT for level access was launched at the Chinley Fete on the 16th July 2017.  854 signatures were recorded
